The solar sabbat of Yule and some favorite Yule stories - ☽ ✧ - Δ - ✧ ☾ - Yule (pronounced ‘Yool’) in the Winter Solstice, starting December 21st in the Northern Hemisphere & June the 21st in the Southern Hemisphere. As per my usual, I like to celebrate one sabbat up until the next one starts, as in a seasonal wave. This is an overview of the season, with a few favorite tales of mine. There are pin-able info-pics of these stories at the end of this post. From the Chapter 'grimoires' The Season Yule in the Winter Solstice is also known as ‘Mother’s night’ or ‘Solstice night’, and the word ‘Solstice’ means the sun stands still. The Sun King/the giver of life, warms the frozen earth. The first night of Yule is the longest night of the year & the night that darkness rules. Yule also marks the turning, when the dark half of the year relinquishes to the light half. Starting on the next morning’s sunrise, the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer in the sky and in each day thereafter. The Wheel turns back towards springtime from this time on. Yule is halfway around the solar wheel of the year from ‘Litha’. Litha is the start of ‘Midsummer’ in the Summer Solstice. From Yule the days become longer and nights shorter, once again. © December 18th 2017-12-18
